The outdoor signs and exhibits featured within the Ontario Power Generation state-of-the-art 13,000 square foot Visitor Centre, located near the R.H. Saunders Hydroelectric Dam in Cornwall, Ontario, were designed, fabricated and installed by Holman.
Visitors to the centre will experience a graphic rich narrative outlining the history of the region and its cultures, as well as the story of the dam’s construction; its champion R.H. Saunders, and the effects on the surrounding communities. Hands-on interactive elements, multi-media and artifacts bring the displays to life and illustrate all aspects of OPG activities— from hydroelectric, nuclear and thermal power generation to environmental stewardship, safety and community involvement. Attendees get a chance to play a game that simulates the tasks of a power dam operator, crank a turbine replica to generate power and guide eels toward a climbing ladder, as well as capture and email images of their experience.
Holman provided a full turnkey service for the Visitor Centre, including interpretive planning, curation, exhibit design and fabrication, digital interactive production, video recording and production.
The St. Lawrence Power Visitor Centre was awarded with a Gold LEED certification. Holman is very proud to be recognized as a valued partner by the OPG for helping them achieve this certification in becoming a leader in sustainable development.
